Join our next Annual Conference
In 2026, the Annual Conference on European Tort Law (ACET) celebrates its 25th anniversary. This Europe-focused but globally-attended gathering of tort lawyers will take place from April 8 to 10, 2026, in Vienna, hosted jointly by the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Graz (ETL) and the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL).
The Conference will commence on the evening of Wednesday, April 8, with an opening lecture by Helmut Koziol on ‘Rethinking the law of loss-allocation’. The programme will continue on Thursday, April 9, with a series of sessions highlighting the most significant recent developments in tort law from across a wide range of European jurisdictions. A Special Session on Friday will revisit the issue of harmonisation of tort law, exploring the contemporary relevance of efforts to achieve greater coherence among the tort law systems in Europe and what lessons the developments during the first quarter of the 21st century may offer in this respect. The Conference will conclude with an Early Career Panel, offering emerging scholars and early career academics the opportunity to present their work at the Conference.
More information will be made available on the conference website.
This year’s conference is supported by the Vienna Meetings Fund.
