Annual Conference on European Tort Law

Compulsory Liability Insurance in European Legal Systems, 13 June 2016, Vienna

Statutory obligations to take out liability insurance are, in practice, the most important means to ensure the compensability of damage arising from dangerous activities. The conference presents the results of an extensive comparative study of the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL) and the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Graz (ETL) on various European legal systems while providing the opportunity to discuss them. A view is equally taken on EU Law, the principles of Constitutional Law, the Economic Analysis of Law, the Prin - ciples of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL) as well as the practice of Insurers and Reinsurers on compulsory liability insurance. Conclusions will complete the programme. The conference will be held in English and will likewise address legal academia as well as experts involved in the practice of liability insurance. The conference is organised by ECTIL and ETL, together with the WU.

Registration is possible until the end of May 2016 with Lisa Zeiler (zeiler@ectil.org). The conference fee is € 30 (including a light lunch and beverages during the breaks). Staff members and students of the WU and the University of Graz as well as current Supporting Members of ECTIL can participate free of charge.
